Symptoms. Atherosclerosis is slow, gradual narrowing of blood vessels, usually noticed when it leads to severe cardiovascular disease. By the terrible consequences of the disease atherosclerosis include: angina, heart disorder, heart failure, stroke, heart attack.
When atherosclerosis sealed and constricts blood vessels. Development of the disease contribute to high blood lipid levels, high blood pressure (hypertension), lack of vitamin C, smoking, mechanical loading (coronary blood vessels due to increased heart overloaded and that is a risk factor) and the so-called oxygen stress (action of aggressive radicals).
Treatment.
Green tea in atherosclerosis is very useful for many reasons.
• It improves the flowing properties of blood, reduces its tendency to coagulation, so that deposits in blood vessels become less ”
• It lowers the level of ”bad” LDL-cholesterol, and cholesterol plaques on the walls of blood vessels is not a building material.
• The level of ”good” HDL-cholesterol, which clears the blood vessels of plaques, under the influence of green tea increases.
• Green tea lowers blood pressure, as it directly affects the regulation of our body. High blood pressure refers to the main causes of atherosclerosis, because it provokes the damage of vascular walls. To combat high blood pressure and lower cholesterol is better to drink green tea during meals. Drink at every meal 0,2-0,3 liters of green tea. Eat just one serving of dry tea, which is brewed in the morning for the first time in the afternoon – the second and in the evening – in the third. Thus, the caffeine content in green drink in the evening will always be smaller, so that at night you do not need to be afraid of insomnia.
Note!
Antisclerotic properties of green tea is scientifically proven. The one who drank 2-3 cups a day this fine drink, never will be a heart attack.

Ginger – occupies an important place among the essential oils. It should be noted that it is in their chemical structure and action is very similar to aspirin. Ginger prevents the formation of platelets, making the risk of clogging of blood vessels in atherosclerosis is significantly reduced. Danish researchers in their studies found that consumption of 5 g of fresh ginger daily sharply reduces the risk of thrombosis and hemorrhage in the brain.
Ginger can be used as a tea (a few pieces to fill with hot water to brew for 10 minutes, drain). Every day should be to drink 3 cups of this tea. Also, ginger is used as a seasoning for many dishes. It is widely used in the preparation of baked goods, yogurt, and vegetable and meat dishes.
Golden Root (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) – known for a long time. Its pigment curcumin, mono – and bisdemetoksikurkumin carefully studied by scientists. Homeopaths claim that these substances protect the circulating fats from the action of free radicals in our body, preventing the appearance of harmful fatty deposits on artery walls. Golden Root is effective in prevention of atherosclerosis and related diseases (heart attack and stroke). The advantage of turmeric is that it positively affects the blood circulation, even in small quantities. It can be used as a tea (no more than 2-3 cups a day). How to spice golden root is used mainly in Indian and Chinese cuisine, giving the dish a piquant taste. To achieve maximum effect against atherosclerosis, should always include a menu of turmeric (you can combine it with ginger).
Chinese yam root (Dioscorea opposita) – contains phytosterols, which reduce cholesterol levels. Scientific studies have proven that it increases muscle tone and the pumping capacity of the heart, while stabilizing the violation of his rhythm. This herb is an effective tool for preventing heart failure, angina and heart attack, you can buy in the drugstore. Drink 3 cups of tea daily from the roots of yams. Due to the high concentration of starch, which is hydrolyzed to sucrose, it is pleasant to the taste sweet.
A little-known in our Chinese yam root perfect cure atherosclerosis and related diseases. This is a medicinal plant – an effective remedy against various diseases. However, we need to take it with caution in hypertension, as this could provoke a further increase in pressure
Onions and garlic. These bulbs contain alizin and adenosine – substances which counteract blood clotting, reducing the risk of condensation. To achieve maximum impact in the fight against atherosclerosis, you should eat at least 4 grams of fresh garlic or 200 g of fresh onions in the day.
Important bioveschestva. Vitamin C water-soluble vitamin C strengthens blood vessels. It promotes the formation of collagen, elastin and other stable molecules in the cells of our body. Together with vitamin E, carotenoids and selenium, vitamin C supports the walls of blood vessels in the attack on their free radicals. Large amounts of vitamin C is found in kiwi, lemons and oranges, as well as tomatoes, peppers and lettuce.
Lysine and proline. These amino acids adhere to the harmful substances for the body fat of blood and prevent the formation of plaques, in addition, they have already caused scouring sediment from the walls of arteries.
The required amount of lysine and proline found in potatoes, fish and beans.
Prevention.
• Follow the rules: stop smoking, drink alcohol less, avoid stress.
• Exercise regularly. Especially suitable are the sports that require endurance, such as yoga, cycling, swimming. But we should not do so zealously that there is shortness of breath. During training you should be able to communicate with your partner.
• Do not eat pork and beef with layers of fat, as well as tverdokopchenuyu sausage and innards (liver, kidney, tongue).
• Do not eat oil-rich fish and fish products, such as eel, fish roe, fish meatballs.
• Be discreet with regard to egg dishes: Eat no more than 3 egg yolks a week and refrain from mayonnaise.
• Limit use of bold flavored potatoes, such as potato chips, fried potatoes and potato chips.
• Of the sweets you can eat marmalade, honey and cocoa. Do not use chocolate cake in butter cream with nuts and nougat, marzipan, chocolates, etc.
Pets protected
Atherosclerosis and heart attack in animals almost never happens. This is because they can synthesize in their bodies autologous vitamin C. Human, by contrast, is supplied with vitamin C only through food.
Alcohol?
It depends on what and how much you drink. High levels of alcohol consumption – more than 0.4 liters of wine or 1 liter of beer – can increase cholesterol and neutralize the effect of important vitamins. Vodka is harmful in any case, but red wine contains substances that have a positive effect on blood vessels.

What is it? Benign prostatic hyperplasia (previously known as prostate adenoma) – the very first common urological disease in men after fifty. In the prostate formed nodes of various sizes and shapes, causing urination disorders and a variety of complications that threaten the life of the patient.

Causes. The emergence and development of BPH depends on many factors. First of all, this is a violation of age-related metabolism of male sex hormone – testosterone and increase estrogen levels. And it is important not only to the concentration of hormones in the blood, and their ability to live within the prostate.

BPH develops slowly, over decades of microscopic nodules and leads to a significant increase in the prostate. In normal prostate weighs about 20 grams, and in patients with BPH, it reaches 100 g (some – 250-300).

BPH Symptoms. Accepted separate course of the disease into three stages:

I. At this stage, patients noted a sluggish stream of urine, there is frequent urination, accompanied by a strong urge, especially at night, as well as some difficulty urinating.

II. Stream of urine thinned and very sluggish and a feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder, as part of urine after urination (100-200 ml) is still in it. At this stage it may be acute urinary retention, impaired renal function.

III. In the most severe stage of BPH and a so-called paradoxical ischuria – the bladder is full, the patient can not urinate because of complete lack of muscle tone in it, but the urine is released all the time drop by drop. Upper urinary tract extended, kidney function is increasingly impaired.

These BPH symptoms at various stages of joining the numerous complications:

ystitis;

hematuria (blood in the urine mixture);

urolithiasis;

pyelonephritis;

prostatitis;

orhoepididimit;

urethritis;

CRF;

hydronephrosis;

urinary retention.

Diagnostics. According to international standards, the patient with suspected benign prostatic hyperplasia initially completes a questionnaire consisting of 7 questions that relate to the degree of severity of symptoms of voiding, and one question, evaluating the quality of life. The patient chooses one of the 6 response options. Each response is evaluated from 0 to 5 points, and the answer to the question about the quality of life – from 0 to 6 points.

Ultrasound of the prostate with mandatory rectal probe determines the size of the prostate, the volume of residual urine.

Ultrasound of the kidneys is performed to determine the state of the upper urinary tract.

Urodynamic study indicates the degree of urination.

All other examination methods are complementary and are used under specific indications: excretory urography – with kidney biopsy of the prostate – for suspected cancer, cystoscopy – if an operation.

Treatment. All the variety of treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia combined into five major groups.

1. Observation – if the number of points on the international system for the assessment of the disease does not exceed 7. The patient in this case should go to a urologist at least once every six months for the control survey.

2. Medical treatment . Used in stage I-II disease, and if the patient abstains from surgery or have contraindications to it at the moment. Currently, there are three main groups of drugs used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Inhibitors of 5-alpha reductase. There are synthetic origin (finasteride, proscar) and natural (permikson). These drugs block the conversion of testosterone into the prostate to harmful substances, causing its growth, as well as long-term use reduces the size of the prostate.

Alpha-adrenergic blockers. Medications with the curious title lower the tone of the musculature of the bladder neck, urethra and prostate gland. As a result, urine is able to safely go outside, even with an enlarged prostate. Most of these drugs also reduce blood pressure.

Herbal preparations. Used as an adjunct in the treatment of BPH. Possess anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory action. This extract from the bark of the African trees, palms, nettle, pumpkin, poplar, etc. – trianol, prostaplant, tadenan, urtiron, peponen, gentos, prostagut, Speman. In these preparations contain phytosterols – the substances that provide the above-mentioned effects. Parts of these substances have not been studied, the effects on the prostate is not fully known.

Medical therapy is effective only with long-term continuous use. If the patient stops receiving tablets, all the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia return.

3. Non-operational treatment. Includes impact on prostate warmth I (thermotherapy) and cold (cryolysis). It usually dies of cancer tissue and prostate is reduced in size.

4. Treatment with lasers. The laser vaporized parts of the tumor.

5. Operative treatment. Only the operation helps to finally solve the problem of this disease. All other methods are not radical. There are several types of operations.

Open adenomectomy. The tumor is usually removed through the incision the bladder. Shown in the large mass of nodes, residual urine of more than 150 ml, the various complications of the disease. Postoperative period rather complicated.

Transurethral resection of the prostate gland. In this case, special cystoscopy – rezektoskopom, which is introduced into the urethra, cut out part of the prostate for the free passage of urine. The operation is the so-called “gold standard” in the treatment of BPH and is used most often.

Transurethral elektrovaporizatsiya prostate. Prostate tissue near the urethra evaporated special roller electrode.

Transurethral laser coagulation of the prostate gland. Laser electrode is introduced into the prostate tissue and burn tissue tumors.

Transurethral needle ablation of the prostate gland. In the prostate fed radio frequency energy, destroying the tumor.

Transurethral elektrointsiziya prostate. The prostate is divided by the electrode at 5, 7 and 12 hours suspended dial. The indications for this operation is a relatively young age of the patient with preserved sexual function and a small volume of the prostate.

Forecast. If untreated, patients develop various complications, some of them may lead to his death, not to mention a sharp decline in the quality of life.

Prevention. At the age of 50 years – visiting urologist every six months.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) – one of the most common diseases of older men. This benign tumor is detected in 50% of men aged 50 years and at 80-90% – in the age of 80 years. There are more than 23 million men with symptomatic BPH. In the US the number of registered patients with BPH is more than 500 thousand people. Therefore, it becomes clear not only medical but also social value of the whole range of problems associated with this disease

The development of BPH is due to age-related changes in the balance of sex hormones in the male body. As a result of hormonal imbalance in prostate tumor development, which is a classic example of the target organs for sex hormones.

The pathogenesis of BPH is the dysfunction of the bladder.

At international meetings on BPH (Paris, 1993, 1997, 2000, Monaco, 1995) approved by the questionnaire, known as “the International System of evaluation of symptoms in diseases of the prostate gland” (IPSS), in accordance with which to assess the scale of discrete points in the existence and extent of severity of the following 7 symptoms: incomplete emptying of the bladder, frequent urination, intermittent urination, the presence of peremptory impulses, sluggish stream of urine, delayed start of urination, night thamuria. These manifestations of the disease have a significant negative impact on the life of the patient, actually lead to a deterioration in quality of life.

The clinical picture and course of the disease depends primarily on the degree of disturbance of micturition. It must be borne in mind that the emergence and development infravesical obstruction in BPH is defined by two components: static – as a result of mechanical compression of the urethra of benign prostate tissue (compression) and dynamic, which is due to adrenergic hyperactivity of the bladder neck, prostatic urethra and the Department of prostate (constriction).

In this regard, despite the complicated genesis of the manifestations of BPH can be divided into two groups of symptoms. First, obstructive (urinary retention, sluggish stream of urine, feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder, abdominal muscle strain during urination, interrupted urine and the separation of urine “dropwise”), associated with progressive obstruction of urine outflow as a result of hyperplasia, and secondly , irritative – in the form of day and night thamuria, peremptory impulses and neuderzhaniya urine, that is, symptoms of irritation, determined by the degree of functional disorders of the neuromuscular apparatus of the urinary bladder.

Among the methods of clinical examination of the main ones being: rectal finger study, ultrasonography of the bladder and prostate, Uroflowmeter and identification of prostate specific antigen (PSA).

To select a method of treatment is very important to assess kidney function and to determine the presence of inflammatory changes in the kidneys and urinary tract.

In men aged and old, along with BPH had various concomitant diseases, which significantly increases the risk of complications in the surgical treatment of patients with BPH. In this regard, the role of pharmacological treat of this disease.

Currently this purpose most commonly used inhibitors of 5-a-reductase and a-adrenergic blockers. The latter have a number of side effects that, especially with prolonged use can cause a deterioration of general condition of the patient.

The drug Proscar (finasteride), a company “Merck Sharp and Dohme”, as a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme 5-a-reductase in the cells of the prostate gland, acts on the pathogenesis of benign tissue of the body, reducing it in size and thus promoting the regression of the manifestations of infravesical obstruction.

In the urology clinic of Paris State Medical University Proscar is used since 1994. Proscar was given to 74 patients aged 46-78 years at a dose of 5 mg / day. Most patients of this group was stage I of BPH. In complicated forms of the disease (acute urinary retention, a large amount of residual urine, renal insufficiency, recurrent urinary tract infection, stones or diverticula of the bladder, hematuria), as well as for suspected prostate cancer drug is not used.

All patients underwent a comprehensive examination that included assessment of clinical signs infravesical obstruction in accordance with international questionnaire IPSS (points), Uroflowmeter, ultrasound and laboratory studies (with the obligatory definition of creatinine in serum and prostate specific antigen). Four patients with suspected cancer of the prostate biopsy is performed, whose results exclude the presence of a tumor process.

Evaluating the effectiveness of treatment of BPH drug Proscar for 1 year, we noted improvement in 63% of patients after 2 years – in 64,8% of patients. Side effects resulting from the use of finasteride, was not observed.
